From Jo Sharp's Contemporary Knitting, this sweater was done on 5s and 6s in the suggested yarns. The pattern was really interesting to use, cleverly designed and simple to assemble. There was a lot of seaming (a point not in its favor) but the end result is so snuggly and warm that I forgive it.
I knit this sweater to take a break from a complicated lace dress I'm making and to get back to knitting as a meditative activity. I made it during a rough part of my life; the smooth rhythm, the luxurious yarn and the slow wooden needles I used all made this one of my most cathartic activities ever. I went from casting on in tears because I was so miserable to seaming in it in a museum's fountain courtyard. Life isn't perfect, but the space, time and peace afforded by this process, rather than the end result make this an object of which I am very, very proud.
