Fall has (finally) come to Baltimore and I needed a scarf. Normally, scarf wearing is cause for great celebration at Chez Punster, since we knit knit knit all year long and look forward to wearing hand knits. Tragically, none of my extant scarves matched my super fab new blazer (from Target, natch). Ever resourceful (and vain) I went scarf-less for the day, but stopped at my favorite video store and grabbed two discs of Desperate Housewives.
That evening, I hit the stash cabinet, grabbed two skeins of Elsbeth Lavold Designer Angora, (delicious, delicious) grabbed some 8s and started doodling. One Desperate Episode later, I didn't like the look of my yarn overs and elected not to re-invent the wheel. I yanked, I frogged, I grabbed 10.5s and cast on 20. And knit.
Tonight, five episodes later, I attached the last of the fringe, wove in the ends and sat back to admire my work. From need to needles in less than 48 hours; I was pretty impressed with myself. I got up to finshed the dishes, when my phone rang. It was Tania of Clapotis fame. She's having hand surgery tomorrow to remove bits of glass from a wine mishap a month ago involving using knives rather than corkscrews. (Don't judge, college) So, I think I'm going to buy her a corkscrew, a bottle of wine and drop off the scarf as a get well present.
Modeled, for the interested, by my stuffed platypus Humphrey Bogart.
